On 22th and 23th October, 2025 the ForPeat consortium members and associated partners celebrated the Project Kick-Off Meeting in Seville, Spain. The meeting marked the beginning of this ambitious project that will focus during 4 years on improving the sustainable management and restoration of forested peatlands in Europe. The ForPeat consortium brings together partners from 14 countries to develop practical, science-based solutions that balance climate action, biodiversity conservation, and bioeconomic needs. Through eight Open Labs located in different countries (Portugal, Italy, Austria, Estonia, Finland, Netherlands, Sweden, and Poland) the project advances monitoring and data collection, tests innovative water and forest management practices, and supports policies that strengthen the resilience and multifunctionality of peatland ecosystems.
