ForPeat Training: Influencing Policy
The ForPeat project is organising the training “Influencing Policy”, a practical online course designed to equip researchers with the skills, tools, and confidence needed to engage with policy in a safe, responsible, and effective way.
This training goes beyond theory. It focuses on how research can actively shape policy processes and contribute to meaningful societal impact. Participants will explore how to navigate the ethical and strategic challenges of policy engagement while identifying the role they can play within policy networks.
Practical tools for real impact
The course provides hands-on guidance to help participants move from intention to action. Attendees will learn how to:
- Identify and prioritise the most relevant stakeholders and policy actors
- Design effective pathways to influence policy
- Communicate research clearly through policy briefs, infographics, and presentations
- Apply time-efficient tools to maximise impact
Through real-world case studies and interactive discussions, participants will gain practical insights when engaging with policy.
What participants will gain
At the end of the workshop, participants will receive:
- Presentation slides and access to free supporting resources
- An invitation to join an optional five-week follow-up programme, including short videos and practical exercises to apply the learning
- Continued support from Prof. Mark Reed, who will respond to participants’ questions after the course
